So six weeks into having a baby brother and Lilly has got the hang of it. She is so attentive to all Barrett's needs. Whenever he is upset she either says shh-shh and pats him or says "it's OK Bubba". She loves covering him up with blankets- we are working on not covering his face. She loves to give him kisses, tickle his toes and hold his hands. Now that Bubba is smiling a little more she loves to say "Hi Bubba" and get a reaction from him. I actually think he gives her the biggest smiles. I sure hope this continues and she and Barrett will always be close. She is turning out to be a great big sister.

One Month Stats
Well, actually these are more like 6 weeks stats but anyway...
Weight 10.15lbs.....70%
Height 22.5in........70%
Head 15in..........30%
Everything else checked out great...he is a healthy boy.
At six weeks we are getting some real smiles, love that! He can hold his head up briefly while on his tummy, he loves to watch our faces and is so much more aware of his surroundings.
Our longest night-time sleep has been 4 hours...we are hoping that lengthens soon!

6 weeks
We have hit the 6 week mark and are going to the Doctor today so I will post all his stats in another post. This morning, Lilly and I were the lucky recipients of some more huge smiles. Here is a cute video of our little guy "talking" to his sister.

Barrett Goes To Church
Our Christmas program was this past Sunday at church so we decided to break the don't-go-anywhere-for-six-weeks rule and take the kids to church. Lilly loved showing off her baby brother, every time someone would come up to take a peak Lilly had to be right there hugging and kissing Barrett. She doesn't like to be far from the spotlight. The kids were good and the music was great, I am glad we went. Here are some pics we took before church, the first picture is of Barrett telling you that he is 4 weeks old...such a genius!!

One Month Old
So Baby B is one month old, we have had four weeks to get to know this little guy. He definitely has his likes and dislikes but overall is much more easy-going than Lilly was (is). One thing that Barrett loves is to lay in our bathroom. We made a make-shift changing area in there between our two sinks and he could lay there and be happy all day or night. He also loves white noise...showers, fans, vacuums and hair dryers all seem to soothe this little one. The other night just before his bed time bottle he fell asleep in the bathroom. Wish I knew why he likes it in there so much so I could re-create the atmosphere elsewhere.

Temple Lights 2009
So we had our first family adventure last night and we survived. We gathered the kids and headed to the Temple to see the lights. We made sure to get there early so we wouldn't have to deal with the crowds. It was awesome, Barrett slept pretty much the whole time and Lilly had a blast. There was hardly anyone there so we were able to stop at all the nativity scenes and talk to Lilly about the true meaning of Christmas. Here favorite stuff was Mary on the donkey with the baby in her tummy, the huge shining star and of course baby Jesus. Getting out as a family was just what I needed to break this newborn "fog" that I have been in. Now we are truly ready for Christmas.

The Grunter
Barrett is almost one month old and while he is not doing much except eating and sleeping, he does do one thing well and that is grunt...all night or day (we are still kind of confused on this one) long. I got it on video so you can see what I mean.

Not a creature is stirring...
Ok, so while I have a few minutes of overlapping naps (lilly and barrett both asleep) I know that I should be resting too, but I don't want to get too far behind with blogging. I also don't want Barrett to look back at how many pics and posts we have for his big sister and feel like he was cheated...who am I kidding, he will probably not care one bit, but I will. So I don't have time for lots of words, just pictures. Life is crazy, crazier than I expected but we are rollin' with it.

No My Bubba!!!
This is what Lilly said to me today in reference to her brother, apparently he is not our son, he is just her baby bubba (brother in lilly speak). She really has been a very sweet and tender big sis. She is however a bottle and binky snatcher, if there is one laying around she snatches it and puts it as far from Bubba as possible.
