So that post about Barrett's first official haircut...I am sure some of you thought, "they hardly took anything off" and you were right. I was just to nervous to do anything drastic. I know its just hair...but Barrett's hair is special ;) Anyway, this past week we got a REAl big boy hair cut and I just love it!!! Proud of myself and Barrett for being so brave!

No more diapers!!!
Na na na boo boo....i don't smell stinky poo poo!!! No more stinky diaper changing for me! My baby...scratch that...my BIG boy Barrett is officially potty trained!!! Not really sure what possessed me to try it this early (perhaps some nagging from my mom) but I am glad I did...he was clearly ready! So at 2years and 4 months we have a little man running around in undies...with the cutest little tushy...it begs for pinching! Here are some pics of my little stud muffin.

Barrett's soccer class

Barrett took a 6 week intro to soccer class with his dad every Saturday morning. It really taught him how to follow along and do what the coach said. He learned how to do soccer stops, kicks, dribbling the ball and throw ins. His favorite part was the obstacle courses and he has proven to be quite competitive. The coach was pretty impressed with his coordination. Overall it was a fun way for the boys to spend some one on one time doing boy things.
Lilly the ballerina
Lilly took an 8 week ballet class and really enjoyed herself. It had been quite some time since her last dance class and she did so much better this time around. She didn't even get upset or shy when all the parents came to watch on the last day. We are so proud of our princess ballerina.
Losing Teeth
One day while putting Lilly to sleep I caught a glimps of something in her mouth. It was a tooth coming thru behind her bottom front teeth. Then I wiggled her tooth and sure enough it was super loose. My first thought was, "What the What!?" she's too little to lose teeth. She worked on her tooth for 3-4 days and then pulled it out all by herself...again "What the What?!" Fortunately we had a dentist appointment for a cleaning the next day. He said that Lilly was the youngest he had seen naturally loose a tooth. Her xrays show that the rest are not far behind. The dentist gives her 6 months for a whole new mouthful. Oh boy...might have some funky pictures at Chad's wedding in June. Lilly's thought when the dentist told her she would be losing a lot more teeth soon, "I'm gonna be rich!".
Between the losing teeth and kindergarten roundup right around the corner, mommy is feeling a little meloncholly.
I've caught the bug
So this post could most definitely be about the cold/bronchitis/laryngitis that I have been battling for almost two weeks now...but it's not. It's about another bug that has been going around..the running bug. I NEVER thought I would think of running in a positive way, but lo and behold, I do now. Back in January I began slowly running/walking for about 30 min. I bought myself a running watch, downloaded a running map ap and set out to one day accomplish my goals. Goals: 1. Lose weight 2. Run 3 miles 3. At a 10 min/mile pace
When I began this adventure, I talked bad about myself thru my whole run...I have some serious mental issues with running stemming back to my younger years. Now the night before my run I am excited to pick out my route and I am afraid to miss a day because I have worked so hard to get to where I am...I don't want to go backwards.
The major bummer is that I get to push all 30lbs of Barrett along on these runs...I am hoping that as the sun starts to rise earlier I will be able to do some solo runs before Jon goes in to work. So for now it takes me about 28 min to run 2.5 miles and I still take a one min. Walk break every seven minutes or so. So I am definitely going at a turtle's pace, but at least I am going...and I actually love it!
Barrett's Year #2
Sorry there is no audio...I had cute music on there but it must have been copyrighted...darn.
Sew fun
Jon's mom got me a sewing machine for christmas. While it did sit in the box for about 6 weeks before I dared tackle teaching myself to sew...it is now my most prized possession. I have loved finding cute stuff on pinterest and making it. Lilly and Barrett have been good sports about wearing the stuff I make. Bubba now has enough bow ties to wear a different one every Sunday for a few months, and Lilly has lots of play skirts. Below are some (not so great) pictures of my beginner projects. Next on my list...a jersey maxi skirt for me, a reversible tote bag/purse and more ties and skirts. LOVE IT!!!
Catching up
So...life has been busy busy and I have not been good about documenting here on the blog. I am going to start with a quick overview of Barrett's 2nd birthday. It was such a fun time with grandma and grandpa here. We did a Thomas the train theme, with blue green and red for the colors. Lots of balloons and decorations and the most delicious chocolate cake ever. Barrett got a lot of new cars from grandma and grandpa , a home made car mat from me and the best gift ever for a two year old...the mopi bike. This kid has been in love with his mopi motorcycle since the minute he pulled it from the box. At two years old this kid is all boy...loves running, jumping, climbing, wrestling. He is talking in full sentences and will tell you all about Thomas or Cars. He is also my animal lover and enjoys the zoo much more than his sister did at this age...he even rode a camel with mommy.
