Pinetop Lakeside 2010

What a wonderful weekend in the mountians!!! We left on Thursday afternoon and drove up to the cabin in Pinetop. This was our first road trip with Barrett and he was not really a fan. Poor kid has to look at the back window the whole time...pretty boring. We made it to Pinetop and loaded up at the grocery store then headed to the cabin. It was about 110 degrees when we left Phoenix and just 3 hours later and it was 60 degrees...glorious!!! The next day we woke up early and headed to Woodland Lake to play on the playground and go for a walk around the lake...it was such a beautiful day and both kids were just so excited to play outside. By lunch time the big dark clouds were rolling in so we packed up just in time for the big thunderstorm to begin. Headed home for lunch and nice long naps while it rained outside. The next day was spent much the same except we decided to let Lilly try fishing. We bought her a cheap little Dora fishing pole and some hot dogs. She was determined to show us that she already knows how to fish and in no way shape or form needed any help at all...point taken. Needless to say we were not too successful and the only thing we caught was weeds and stuff...which freaked Lilly out (see video below). Barrett was a trooper and just loved trying new things like the big kid swings. The cabin is such a great place to come and get back to basics...no internet, no cable, just fun with the kids and old Disney movies. Lilly watched Lion King and then had nightmares about it that night...fun?! The ride home was much better, Barrett slept much of the time and there was not any road construction. All in all it was a really great four days. I love my little family and can't wait to continue our tradition of trips to the summer cabin as they get older. Now onto the many many pictures and videos.

What a fun little getaway! We have little fishing poles for Lake Powell like Lilly's Dora one and the kids are obsessed with casting it into the lake. We never really try to catch fish...both their poles came with a little floaty thing that just stays on top of the water. It's one of their favorite activities, though!!!
