Summer Fun

Since Disneyland the kids have sort of been on lock down. Not that its that fun to be anywhere other than the movies or a pool right now (its so stinkin' hot) But with me loopy on pain meds we pretty much spent June watching movies, painting, playing with play doh, and playing games. Now that I am feeling like my old self again I decided to try taking the kids to a fun splash pad park near our home. The kids had a great time and nobody got hurt, so we will be back for sure.

4th of July

Just thought it was funny that the pills I have to take after having my lithotripsy last week are red, white and blue. (and this my be TMI but, the blue one makes your urine bright blue) Made a carrot cake and decided it needed some flare.

I sure miss my Wisconsin 4th of July's but we had a great time with swimming, music, snaps, sparklers, smores, glow sticks and fireworks. The kids had a blast!!

So....June was interesting

*Warning...Lengthy medical post...pretty boring*

So....June was interesting. I'll explain:
The week before we left for Disneyland I wasn't feeling great...called Chad (brother in med school) for advice....ended up at Urgent care on a Sunday afternoon...sent home with possible UTI, antibiotics and told to call my urologist. Saw urologist (who I haven't seen since before I was pregnant with Barrett...even though I was supposed to) Had an ultrasound of my kidneys...from there I was told that I had 1 stone in each kidney and my left ureter was dilated...happy with that outcome we headed to Disneyland...had a great time...came home to a voicemail from doctor asking me to have a CT scan because the ultrasound came back "grossly abnormal"...freak out, worry about cancer/tumors (my niece was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and she had these same symptoms and tests)...lost 5 lbs. in 4 days from stress (looking at the bright side)...had CT scan and waited to see doctor for results...had a cystoscopy (google it...not fun)...urologist walks in laughing and asking how I am feeling(he is always amazed that I have very little pain with these crazy stones)...shows me CT scan...5 stones in right kidney, 4 in the left and 3 huge ones stuck in my left ureter causing my left kidney to be blocked (hydronephrosis, scary stuff)...relief, its not cancer/tumors...schedule 1st of 3 surgeries to get me healthy again.

Since having Barrett I have had pain on and off, but I just kept putting it off. Not smart!!! I didn't realize how sick I was feeling until I had the first procedure to remove the 3 stones in my ureters and drain my kidney. I feel so much better now. 1 week after the 1st surgery I went in again to have a lithotripsy on the right kidney. Now all I have left is one more lithotripsy on the left. Not sure when we will schedule that as I am sort of sick and tired of being put under general anesthetic and on pain meds. So there went June...a total percocet blur.

Girls Camp

Girls Camp 2011...I drove up with 3 other leaders two days after camp started. We left super early so that we could make it in time for the 1st year's hike. Unfortunately we ran into road construction and so I thought I missed the hike. As we pulled into Taylor Ranch I saw a long line of girls trudgin along in pink and they ripped open the car door, yanked me out and forced me on the hike with them. I am so glad we barely made it, it was a good experience with my beehives.

The beehive crew...I grew to know and love these girls so much while at camp. They are amazing, as are the leaders I get to serve with.

Here are the girls on skit night. I was really proud of them and how outgoing they were. Some of them really suprised me. We were given a theme from our stake (Ours was cold cereal characters) and then the girls just ran with it. Some of the other wards skits you could tell were done by the leaders, especially the costumes. I am glad we let the girls take this on themselves, they did great.

Here is the infamous rock wall. It was about 30ft. tall and it was all fun and games at first. Each of the girls had their chance to conquer the wall and then it was Tyra's turn. The youngest of our beehives...not even 12 for two more weeks. She was about 3/4 of the way up when a huge gust of wind came and made the wall start to tip over. She was on the front of the wall and just hung on while the other two climbers on the sides where swinging like monkeys. It was actually very scary because it looked like it was going to fall completely over. The trailer it was attached to was even coming up off its wheels. Anyway, Tyra got safely to the ground and was nearly tackled by the other beehives as they ran to give her a hug. It turned out to be a pretty big deal to the girls and I'll just say there was a lot of talk of the rock wall at that nights testimony meeting.

Overall, I sure did stress about leaving my kids for a few nights....all for nothing. They had a great time with their dad. I had a great time with the girls. Despite the long cold nights, crazy winds, dirty dirty dirtiness, I had a blast and can't wait for next year!

Disneyland

"Hey kids!!!! Guess What?! We're going to DISNEYLAND!!!!!" Ok, so they already knew but still I can't wait to pull that suprise one day when they are older and really know what awesome parents we are.
We spent 3 days in the happiest place on earth over Lilly's birthday. We left super early and caught a plane to California. We dropped off our bags at the hotel and got on the first shuttle for Disney. Walked throught the gates at about 1:30 and began our 1st Disney trip with kids!!!

here are the kids on thier first ride, the Teacups. I think by the look on thier faces they were a little overwhelmed at first.

I am glad Jon took this picture and captured this moment. In this picture I am seriously so happy I could almost cry...just another of those moments when you feel like you are still a kid but then you realize you are sharing this experience WITH your kids.

Small World was Barrett's favorite thing ever. 4 weeks later he still screams SMALL! whenever he hears the song. We probably went on this ride 8 times since there was never any line.

So lucky to have such a layed back little dude. He really just went with the flow.

Day #2

These are the first two days...I left the 3rd day off for its own special post since it was Lilly's Birthday too.

Lilly's 4th Birthday

We had a fabulous 4th birthday for Lilly. She started it off by putting on her "Birthday Girl" shirt and her "Happy Birthday" button that they gave us at Disneyland. Every single person who worked at Disneyland noticed her button and stopped to tell her Happy Birthday...how cool is that?!

With our 3-day passes we got into Toon Town an hour early. Lilly found the Go Coaster and went on it 10 (literaly) times in a row. It's funny that the fact that she loves rollercoasters makes me so proud of her. I guess I am just excited to have a buddy for all the scary rides (Jon's a wimp). Jon took this video over his shoulder...I love it!!!
