First Bath

Gave Barrett his first sponge bath. I couldn't wait to lather up all the gorgeous hair. We tried to style it with a faux-halk, but it ended up with the "messy" look. He loved having his hair washed and I loved seeing his eyes so awake and aware.

And now for the look-a-like contest.... These are Lilly's first bath pictures

A Great Big Thanks

Goes out to these two people....

Grandpa & Grandma

The Day Three Became Four

November 18th 2009 is the day our little family went from three to four. Our little man Barrett Jonathon Hague made his arrival at 2:20pm and weighed 7lbs. 10oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. He came out screaming and didn't settle down until they swaddled him...that was after he peed on all the nurses.
The day was filled with lots of emotions. From excited, to nervous and anxious, and sad to leave my Lilly girl. Once we were at the hospital things happened quickly and my nerves were put at ease. It seems that on any big occasion Jon and I resort to humor and laughter to get us through the nerves. (I remember cracking jokes on the morning of our wedding right before the ceremony because we were so nervous) So during all the pre-op stuff we were just cracking each other up. They walked me into the OR and I met the nicest anesthesiologist ever. He was so good to talk me through everything. The C-section was awesome, totally relaxed and smooth (nothing like Lilly's). Before we knew it we had our little man in our arms.
All the nurses could not get over his hair. It is a lot more than Lilly's and so adorable. After they got him cleaned up Jon brought him to me and laid him next to me on my pillow. A moment I will never forget, that sweet smell and soft cheek next to mine...precious.
From that moment on I have been in love with Barrett. Jon and I are totally amazed at how easy going he is. He basically eats and sleeps like a champ. He already loves his sister and opens his eyes whenever she is near.
Lilly is doing so well with the adjustment. She is gentle and sweet with her little brother. He is such a good baby that I think there are times that she forgets he is here. Daddy just took Lilly to target and I can hear little man grunting (hardly a cry) so I better go see what he needs. Will update again soon. For now we are just counting out blessing 1, 2, 3, 4...
Enjoy the pics of our special day...

Can't Wait

He's almost here, almost done cookin' in there. I am trying to "enjoy" these last days of feeling little Barrett inside...there is nothing like it and it's probably the only thing I will miss about being pregnant. I just can't wait to see his little face, what will he look like (his daddy probably) but will he have curly or straight hair, brown or green eyes. I can't wait to hear his cry and know that we got him here safe and sound. Can't wait to look into his eyes for the first time and fall head over heels in love again. Can't wait to bring him into our home and show his big sister what mommy and daddy got her...a baby brother of her very own.

And then it will be onto all the stuff that I'm not sure I'm ready for. The sleepless nights, dealing with jealousy, healing and juggling it all. But these are the sacrafices you make to be a mother and rather than be negative about them I am going to try and be positive. We will get through it and try and enjoy it because they just grow up so darn fast.

So little Barrett, you finish cooking in there, and get big and strong, sorry in advance for how much your big sister is going to bug you but you can pay her back later, and I love you, I love you, I love you...see you soon! Love , mommy

Halloween 2009

We made it to Halloween!!! Can't beleive how time is flying. We had a fun day yesterday filled with carving pumpkins and trick or treating.

The trunk or treat was a nice little training session for our Snow White. By the time the real thing came along she acted like she had been trick or treating for years. We started out with Brooklyn and Allison and I made it about an hour before baby Barrett had worn me out.

Then we came back to home base where Lilly had to immediately see what treasures she held in her pumpkin bucket.

Then it was out again with Daddy, they came back for one pit stop but Lilly was begging for more so Daddy took her back out. They seriously walked our entire neighborhood and came home with an awesome stash. In fact Lilly was so sad when they finally arrived back at our house because the strap on her pumpkin bucket broke because it was too heavy. So Lilly made it over 2 hours of trick or treating. There were a lot of Snow Whites this year, but I have to say, Lilly was the cutest!!!!

By 9pm Lilly was coming down off her sugar high. We let her watch the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin one more time and she just sort of "melted" on the ottoman.

What fun we had and next year we will have two cuties to dress up!!!
